How We Got Started...
My husband, Kevin, who is a Radiologist Technician in the US NAVY received deployment orders in April of 2011 to join a medical unit in Afghanistan. While we both struggled with the reality of this shocking news, I vowed that I would send Kevin letters and care packages regularly to show my love and support for him during his deployment.
Every military man and woman should have that constant reminder that they are remembered, appreciated, and loved for serving our country. I realized that I could do my part to support these troops by sending them care packages and correspondence. While Kevin was going through all of his assigned trainings and other pre-deployment preparations, I got to work on the formation of the Aid Our Troops charity organization.
With support from local businesses, military personnel and public donors, Aid Our Troops has already begun sending out our first care packages to the troops! I am excited to say that the network of support for Aid Our Troops continues to grow and we look forward to sending many more care packages and correspondence to those military men and women who are making sacrifices every day to serve our country.
